OWENS CORNING INTRODUCES “BLACK SABLE” AS 2019 SHINGLE COLOR OF THE YEAR

Black Sable is the newest color in the TruDefinition Duration Designer Colors Collection.

Owens Corning has introduced a new single color blend, Black Sable, to its TruDefinition Duration Designer Colors Collection as its 2019 Shingle Color of the Year. The asphalt shingle profile mixes black, gray, umber and sable granules, creating what the manufacturer considers a “dramatic yet grounded complementing any number of architectural styles.”

“Black Sable provides a modern take on a classic color, making a sophisticated and timeless statement,” says Sue Burkett, Owens Corning Roofing Strategic Roofing Manager. “You could say this shingle is the ‘little black dress’ for the roof because it will never go out of style.”

The new color was created and selected based both on current color trends and on feedback from homeowners, contractors, and builders. Owens Corning has created three new online exterior style boards for Black Sable, along with other design and visualization resources for consumers. “Research has shown that homeowners, especially women, embrace color and want guidance on how to use it on their homes’ exteriors,” Burkett says.

Black Sable is the third Owens Corning Shingle Color of the Year, following Sedona Canyon in 2017 and San Dune in 2018. It will be available nationwide in January 2019.
